Baptism is the first of the Sacraments of Initiation in the Catholic Church. A class for parents planning to have their child baptized is held monthly and is necessary for all first-time parents. To register for the class, call the church office at (920) 732-3770.
Infant Baptism dates may be arranged by calling the church office. It is recommended that Baptisms take place during a weekend Mass. Baptisms are usually not celebrated during Lent. There is a $10 fee for Baptisms, plus a gratuity to the priest or deacon.
Baptismal Certificates: All baptisms are recorded in the parish where a person is baptized, and that record is available to that person when needed. Additionally, a certified Certificate of Baptism is issued at the time of Baptism.
Sponsor Requirements: The Church requires at least one godparent, but not more than two (one godmother and one godfather). A godparent must be a practicing Catholic (attending Mass every Sunday) who is at least 16 years old and has been confirmed.
Witness Requirements: A Christian witness can take the place of one of the godparents and must be baptized and at least 16 years old.
A recent record of Baptism is needed before some other sacraments may be administered, namely Confirmation, Holy Orders, and Matrimony. After receiving these sacraments, the information is sent to the parish where the person was baptized to update that original baptismal record.
If you were baptized at our parish, you may obtain a copy of your baptismal record by calling the parish office (there is no charge).
